Dinner Alfresco

Kids gone. Early spring dinner in the backyard. Dog patrolling the premises, hoping for a reward for her efforts. Menu: grilled ribeye steaks from grass-fed Berry cows, marinated in lemon and basil; winter squash souffle with a tinge of curry seasoning; baby turnips I pulled from the garden, tossed in olive oil and roasted with their green tops still attached.

Going Green


French butter cookies, sables, made in two batches. Second batch dyed green, then gently rolled to look marbled. Sprinkled with coarse green sugar. Fed to hoard of tween boys in camo.
